Ohbliv Pop-Up Liner Notes (Season 2, Episode 5)
2.5.1) The Richmatic crew was comprised of Richmond DJs: Sean Kramer, Billy Nguyen, & Jeremy Zavik. Together they organized hip-hop concerts and events around Richmond.
2.5.2) Score One For the Little Guy was a group Ohbliv formed with Corey Smith. Earthtone Crew (pictured) was a collective mix of Hip Hop, Soul and Acoustic artists including Ohbliv, JR Booker, Jon Q, Corey Smith and Brad Doggett.
2.5.3) Fly Anakin is one of the most exciting rappers to have come out of Richmond and a co-founder of the collective, Mutant Academy.
2.5.4) Nils Westergard, an artist from Richmond and Amsterdam, painted a mural of Ohbliv and Fly Anakin following the release of their collaborative album Backyard Boogie.
2.5.5) 'Yellow Gold 3', Ohbliv's third collaborative project with Richmond hip-hop legend, Nickelus F, was released as a performance for the Brewer's Sessions YouTube series.
2.5.6) Rapper and punk vocalist BlackLiq did a collaborative EP with Ohbliv called 'What Will It Take' earlier this year (2023).
2.5.7) Here's the collage artwork for his project 'LewseJoints 12' that dropped in February 2023.
2.5.8) Beat set: a live performance set for hip-hop producers
2.5.9) BK Music use to be off of Midlothian TNPK and another off Forest Hill Ave in Southside, Richmond, VA
2.5.10) Little Brother is a hip hop duo, Big Pooh & Phonte, who met in 1998 while enrolled as college students at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina.
2.5.11) Chocolate Milk Collective: Gordy Michael, Ahnnu, Josh P, Lil Ugly Man/Sean Kemp, DJ Anthony.
2.5.12) Just Plain Sounds (JPS) is a hip-hop label founded by Just Plain Ant now Ant The Symbol.
Ant The Symbol is a Richmond, Va.-based music producer. He skillfully uses his roots in hip-hop and eclectic musical tastes to create musical experiences that transcend genre boundaries. Watch Ant The Symbol on Liner Notes
The Honorable Sleaze was a rapper from Richmond, VA and was known locally as a skilled emcee/producer. Sleaze's music has an "everyman" quality, and he focused his attention on the issues pressing to his community.
2.5.13) D'Angelo is singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. His debut studio album, Brown Sugar (1995), was certified platinum and has been credited as the album for ushering in the neo soul movement.
2.5.14) Interpolation: the insertion of something of a different nature into something else.
